submissions
Contributions to the magazine are welcomed and readily invited. It is best practice to contact the editor via email (see the Contact page) to establish if material is suitable for the magazine.
Guidelines
All your submitted material must be your own work and may not be copied, in whole or in part, from any published or copyrighted source without prior written consent, license, or open content disclosure of the original creator. By submitting material to the magazine you agree that all content is of your own original creation and that you have the legal right to publish or create content for us without restrictions.
At this point in time the magazine will not be accepting AI created material (written or picture).
We are looking for new and original material to publish in Fighting Fantazine, so material already published elsewhere is not likely to be considered unless a sufficiently good case can be made for doing so. Additionally, in order to make the magazine something people will continue to seek out, we would prefer if material published in the magazine wasn’t subsequently published elsewhere except by consultation with the editor and links to this site alongside the re-published material.
Contributions for this column should be no more than 2500 words in length and preferably accompanied by an appropriate photo of the author.
There are three lengths of reviews, full page (1100 words), half page (500 words), and one-third page (300 words) – please be aware that reviews can and will be edited to fit as needed. Please first establish with the editor that no one else is already reviewing the item you want to review before going to the effort of writing and submitting a review. We can’t always guarantee that a review will appear because if an issue is tight for space, the reviews section is the first to be trimmed.
Please contact the editor first before attempting to submit an adventure as we try to keep a mix of locations, styles, and genres going in the magazine. If we are at the time looking for an adventure for a future issue you’ll be asked to ‘pitch’ your idea. This should be no more than 200 words giving an idea of the locale, plot, and style of adventure you are planning. If we’re happy with a pitch you’ll be given an issue with a deadline and asked to supply an art brief. The completed adventure will playtested by the editor and two dedicated ‘Adventure Editors’ with feedback and other suggestions.
These adventures can be based either on a wholly original world and system, or on the following gamebook worlds and systems, for which permission has been obtained: Fighting Fantasy, Lone Wolf, or Gamebook Adventures.
Adventures should not be more than 200 references in length (unless approval from the editor is obtained).
No more than 10 illustrations anticipated to accompany it (with the possibility of a colour map on the back cover).
We would prefer original stories as opposed to direct sequels to official adventures (no Deathtrap Dungeon III for example. If you are unsure on this point, talk to the editor).
This is similar to the mini adventure situation. Please contact the editor first before attempting to submit an adventure. If we are looking for an adventure you’ll be asked to ‘pitch’ it. No more than 4 illustrations anticipated to accompany it (plus the possibility of a map). We would prefer original stories as opposed to direct sequels to official adventures.
